Firebreather (2010)
Duncan is 16 and just started a new school. He has normal teenage problems – a protective mom, trouble making friends, and bad luck with girls – but he also worries about his orange skin, scales, and appetite for coal instead of sandwiches.
That’s because Duncan’s half Kaiju. The Kaiju are ancient, powerful creatures who lost a vicious war against the humans 16 years ago. Considered dangerous monsters, they have lived in exile underground ever since.
Duncan’s mom, a human, saved humanity from the Kaiju 16 years ago, and now she wants Duncan to lead a life as normal as possible. But that’s going to be hard when his dad, Belloc, King of the Kaiju, wants to track him down, transform him into full Kaiju, and train him to lead the next war against the humans.
It’s time for Duncan to choose: normal teenager or king firebreather?
